Sustainability is the key to a better future for us and our planet.

technology can play a major role in achieving it.

Pravaha in collaboration with Technopark School Kudrovo organised a bilateral hackathon on ‘Building a Sustainable World’ from 3rd - 5th June 2022. This first of its kind event was held under the aegis of the prestigious St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University ‘LETI’, and was supported by the Indian Embassy in Moscow, and the Russian Embassy in India.

In this hackathon, 3 teams from India went head to head with 4 teams from Russia to solve real world problems linked to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Indian participants also underwent an intensive bootcamp prior to the hackathon to prepare themselves on using various tools and honing their skill sets.

The problem statements were selected on the 3rd of June, and the participants had until the 5th of June to turnaround a working solution. The teams used Robotics, IoT, Design Thinking and Programming skills to innovatively solve sustainability problems across a range of themes including agriculture, healthcare, transportation and others.

This Hackathon marks a watershed moment for us, as it was our first international program, and it constitutes a major achievement among our activities. Our vision is that it will become an annual event for the propagation of greater knowledge of emerging technologies among youth. The event will also work towards the strengthening of the bonds of peace and friendship between peoples countries through cooperation and teamwork.

Young innovators formed 5 to 6 member teams across the following age groups:
Team 1: Age Group 10 - 13
Team 2: Age Group 14 - 18
Team 3: Age Group 19 - 22 (Undergraduates)

The entire program was livestreamed from both India and Russia. A 6 member jury (3 from India and 3 from Russia) decided on the winners in each team category. The teams from India and Russia were tied in the Team 1 category. The team from Russia won in the Team 2 category. The Indian team won the Team 3 category.
