EPISTEME - 2022 - A Residential Program for Highly Abled Children at IIST
Pravaha conducted a program for Highly Abled Children in collaboration with the prestigious Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Trivandrum, and Agastya International Foundation.
Called 'Episteme-2022', this was a two-week residential enrichment program on the IIST campus, from 6th - 17th June, 2022. 36 children from all over India, selected based on their advanced learning capabilities, attended this program.
The program initiated the children into the core scientific processes and concepts in Space Science, Math and Natural Sciences, and their interconnections. The IIST faculty delivered the course, and the children had the opportunity to visit the state-of-the-art research labs and observatories on the campus. The courses were lecture demonstrations, and focused on question answer sessions where the children learnt by asking.
The children visited the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) campus, and the Space Museum there. They were given the opportunity to interact with some of the leading scientists in space research in the country today.
The program also had a socio-emotional learning component which focuses on their emotional growth and nourishment. Various performing-arts events were part of the program, introducing the children to the rich and varied culture of Kerala.
